Nurtec

Nurtec (generic name: rimegepant) is prescribed as a preventative treatment for episodic migraines and a treatment for acute migraine attacks in adults.  Rimegepant is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor agonist. CGRP is a protein that has some part in the development of migraine. Nurtec blocks the effects of CGRP to try to shorten the duration of attacks and reduce pain and other symptoms of migraine attacks. Nurtec is an oral tablet that can be taken under the tongue, where it dissolves. Dosage Nurtec should be taken according to the doctor’s instructions. The standard dosage f or the treatment of acute migraine attacks is one tablet. Do not take more than one tablet within 24 hours. Taking more than 18 doses of Nurtec within the space of 30 days has not been investigated and therefore is not advised. For the preventative treatment of episodic migraines, taking one tablet on alternate days is the common treatment.
