Loteprednol is a corticosteroid used in optometry and ophthalmology.
Applications for this drug include the treatment of inflammation of the eye due to allergies (according to the prescription information sheet), as well as chronic forms of keratitis, vernal keratoconjunctivitis, pingueculitis, and episcleritis. The drug has little or no effect on intraocular pressure.

Indication: Lotemax is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe, such as allergic conjunctivitis, acne, rosacea, superficial punctate keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, cyclitis, and selected infective conjunctivides, when the inherent hazard of steroid use is accepted to obtain an advisable diminution in edema and inflammation.
