While it can be used on it’s own, it is often used as part of a fertility drug program and in combination with HCG drugs. FSH means follicle stimulating hormone. HCG means human chorionic gonadotrophin.
Follistim is a cartridge intended for an injection. Follistim is a gonadotrophin hormone cartridge that is intended for injection.
It consists of highly purified rFSH (recombinant follicle stimulating hormone) with neither urinary proteins nor LH (lutenising hormone). Follistim is also known as Puregon or Follitropin Beta. Since it is very pure, Follistim (Puregon) is used to treat fertility problems in combination with Pregnyl (hCG – human chorionic gonadotrophin) to stimulate the ovaries in women. It can also be used alone to stimulate sperm production in men.
