Colchicine affects the way the body responds to uric acid crystals, which reduces swelling, redness, warmth, and pain associated with gout or Behcet’s syndrome. It should not be used as a routine pain medication for other conditions. It is available in Israel only in .5 mg doses and is not a cure for either condition.
