Creon® (lipase, protease, and amylase) is an combined enzyme replacement therapy for patients with deficient exocrine pancreatic secretions, cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, post-pancreatectomy, ductal obstructions caused by cancer of the pancreas, pancreatic insufficiency and for steatorrhea of malabsorption syndrome and post-gastrectomy (Billroth II and total).

Fibrosing colonopathy : A rare bowel disorder called fibrosing colonopathy was reported in a small number of children, with cystic fibrosis, taking large doses of both high and low-strength enzymes.

Indication: Creon is a high strength pancreatic enzyme supplement. Pancreatic enzyme supplements are used by people whose bodies do not make enough of their own enzymes to digest their food. How does it work? The enzymes in Creon work by digesting food as it passes through the gut. It is therefore essential that Creon is taken at the same time as eating a meal or a snack. This will allow the enzymes to mix thoroughly with the food. Creon is indicated for use in Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). EPI is a condition in which your body doesn’t provide enough pancreatic enzymes to properly break down food. People with EPI are unable to properly digest the nutrients in food such as fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, leading to maldigestion.
