Vraylar (generic name: cariprazine) is typically prescribed along with antidepressant medicines to treat major depressive disorder (MDD). It is used to treat short-term bouts of acute mania or mixed episodes that happen with bipolar I disorder, as well as to treat depressive episodes that can occur with bipolar I (bipolar depression). It can be prescribed for people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Cariprazine treats symptoms but does not cure these conditions. Cariprazine must be taken while the patient is under the supervision of a trusted healthcare provider. Benefits may only be felt after several weeks, but one should not stop taking the drug without talking to their prescribing physician. Cariprazine should be taken in the prescribed dose even if symptoms go away. Talk to a doctor if you do not feel an improvement during treatment with cariprazine. Dosage Cariprazine capsules can be taken with or without food. It is best to take cariprazine at around the same time every day. If a dose is missed and can be made up on the same day, it can be taken. Otherwise, the missed dose should not be made up for the next day. Do not double-dose.
